Marc Tweedie (born 1986)- Gréasaîn

Gréasaín (English: Webs) was written in during November and December 2008, and premiered by the Lawson Trio at Queen's University, Belfast in May 2009. The title refers to a poem by acclaimed Irish language poet, Cathal Ó Searcaigh, which served as the initial impetus for the work. Based loosely on Rondo form, the piece consists of a recurring 'theme' surrounded by various distinctly separate but inextricably linked passages, akin to the construction of a spider web with its various separate threads providing different areas of support which are interwoven to create a strong, unified structure.
